TheRON is being designed for the user, not for the root or for the developer. Currently the DNS is implemented on the latest GNU/Debian, using Webmin. If you are a developer or a root go ahead and use whatever you like, but please help the owner-operators to master the Debian - Webmin stack to configure and maintain their DNS infra. Webmin also has tools for Apache, SQL, LDAP, Postfix / Dovetail configuration and more (File Manager, Shell, Clustering Webmin nodes) explained elsewhere.
The owner-operator may not depend on anyone else to serve their DNS, maintain their DNSSEC, and organize their subdomains. In turn OpenNIC and other root and alt are acceptable as long as there is a purpose compatible with #
TheRON, the expert owner-operator is authenticated and respected.
Anything built on top of the DNS and alt follows the same principle, which is built on top of what you are able to control - do not build your foundation on borrowed resources and expertise.
If you are looking to get started with #
TheRON, or you have issues with anything DNS-related this is the place to ask.
